What is the best hair system?

Postby robbie » Fri Jul 22, 2011 9:05 pm

Hi

I'm new here and I have only recently decided that I want some hair system to cover my bald area.

So far I have seen a few promo videos and obviously most of them look really nice (what else would you expect from a promotion video). I thought maybe someone here could give me some advice.

What type, which company, etc.

Any infromation would help.

Thank you!!

Hi, I have had replacement systems since 2004. I was with AHS over 6 yrs but despite having great mangement and staff the systems became too expensive and I changed to another company on a self maintenance basis, first two systems pretty good. Third was more expensive and absolutely diabolical It was more synthetic than real hair and felt like wire.
I moved to another on line company still on self maintenance called Hair4Head. so far I am pleased. I have gone for a more natural less density system giving that receding look with 30% grey its brill. fortunately I caught my hair loss very early before it thinned too much and by doing it the way I am now it does not notice. Only very close members of the family know. Ive never had any sniggers or remarks from workmates or anyone as you would expect.
I think you have to be brave and experiment if other alternatives fail. Make sure you are in control and dont be railroaded into anything you feel uncomfortable with.
In a couple of years I plan to remove it altogether, I do have hair which is receded and a fine patch to the back other than that it was a matter of vanity.
Good Luck.

I forgot to mention. Some systems are horrendously expensive and are like a hat. Go for the less dense lightweight systems especially if you are easing into it. Also note you must have it maintained monthly which costs a fair bit.
I suggest you have a shop around and go for an initial consultation. Suss the costs of system and maintenance. Also you will need to use their products which adds up. Before you know £3000 is gone in the first year!!!
A guideline is £400 for system cut in and fitting plus £50 to £80 a month maintenance. You will need two systems to swap round they last about a year if you are careful.
Some Outlets have three systems which they use as a kind of therapy package to get you used to having it fitted semi perminently to your scalp they will use these units until they fall apart then fit the 2nd and so on. Each has a different fixing system (glues/tapes etc)
Once you get used to it DONT buy their products, You can use Aussie Leave in conditioners. Treseme'. You can even enhance the colour using the right stuff,
Once you gain confidence go for self maintenance and the only out lay is the system. my systems cost about £199 and last between 3/5 months I have several identical ones and just switch them around and you can have them repaired/beefed up. s the sky is the limit really. Once again good Luck

Long thick hair is the best hair system.

If using hair systems age your system as you age according to your original colour. 10 yrs ago I had hardly any grey now my temples and 'wings' are very grey whilst above that its salt and pepper. My hair being very dark brown almost black lends itself well to ash tones with 30% grey insert.I have a very fine lace and less density. Almost receding so your scalp can be seen through the hair as on any normal head of hair. My systems are so fine they dont feel like a hat. The tape is invisible giving a natural thinning hair line. You can swim, shower go out in the wind with perfect confidence and of course you can sleep in it. Totally undetectable. Note: All male systems are female hair. Female hair has softer tones and become a shade lighter or redder as the system ages or has too much exposure to the sun. You can refresh your colour with special colour rinses but the coppery effect soon comes back. This of course is ok if you are a light haired person.
If you have hair and its going grey/white with a little thinning dont have a system fitted. Grey hair is generally stronger and you may not lose it completely. Personally if I had not gone thin on top I would have happily gone grey.
I dont think there is anything wrong with a man trying to preserve his appeance. women do it! Its done for all sorts of reasons. lack of self esteem, better for getting or staying in a job or job hunting. Of course if you fancy going lady hunting at some stage she will find out and that will make or break you. My wife encouraged me to have mine done when I was about 58/59 and has never seen me with it off. She prefers to leave it as if I had never had it done. :D
Remember if you have it done some of your head must be shaved to allow adhesion of the tape. If you change your mind you will lokk like a monk for 6 weeks until what hair you had grows back. Or bite the bullet shave the lot.

That depends upon your age. I see asian men in their 50s with big black birds nests sat on top of their heads,,soooo obvious.
