I've just joined after lurking on your forums for some time. I have Female Pattern Baldness and very fine hair as well. I thought I'd let you know I went to Lucinda Ellery and to Hair Solved consultations last week and I have decided to take the plunge and go for a system....being fit on Tuesday eek!!

I really loved Hair Solved (the company I chose). I felt very relaxed there and I liked what they had to say. We talked in length about my concerns if it would pull more of my hair out and about the psychological implications of having something false on my head and if I ever decided to stop using it what it would be like when it came off. It was a very professional and informative consultation. I also liked the quality of the hair and the method of attaching with the clips as opposed to other places where it is braided.

In defence of Lucinda Ellery, who I went to with some anticipation after reading reviews on here, I thought she was lovely. She seemed very caring and when I explained I have young children and am getting married soon, was quick to explore the possibility of having a system before the wedding and in Manchester. Yes, she is very flamboyant but I think she has had some slightly harsh reviews regarding her personality. But, for me I agree with other reviews that the product didn't seem to be as good. The hair didn't feel as nice, I did not like the braiding technique as I feel that is more likely to put pressure on my own hair. The staff seemed friendly but yes, as some others have said, I found it all a bit much and a bit intimidating. I think her system worked out about £350 more expensive plus the maintenance costs were higher. If I though the product was superior I wouldn't have been too concerned with paying more but for me I actually felt the Hair Solved product was better. I personally reckon the LE product is better for people who have lost hair through chemo or pulling it out but are expecting it to grow back because I think it is more natural but I'm sure the braiding would put more strain on your hair than the clips so I think the clips (Hair Solved) is better for people like me with very fine thin hair and not very much of it...could be completely wrong but I felt that.

So I am off to Hair Solved on Tuesday to have new hair. Another plus to Hair Solved for me was that they have all products in stock and don't have a waiting list. It's not so much impatience but I like to see a company spending the money to be prepared for their customers. I'm so excited and will report how it has gone when I get chance in the next week, then come on again in a couple of months and tell you how it feels after a few months of wear. Wish me luck!!!

Hi Girls, I am new to this forum. I have suffered from thinning hair since the age of 14 following the loss of a close family member and my hair has not recovered since. It's mainly concentrated on the top of my head and I can see my scalp. It has really effected me and I have struggled to find a solution to help me with this problem. I was at a hair dresser and they told me that a friend of their's had the integration system done and that made me think it wud be suitable for my hair. I am getting it done soon at hair-solved in north London. I met Sally and was very impressed with it as I went to another salon who said their system wouldn't be suitable for my hair as I had too much of it. I would be very grateful if anyone who has had it done can offer me some advice on the following:

What's like have on your head?

Is it visible? Can anyone see it?

How easy / hard is it to style?

I've been meaning to post a comment about my girlfriends experience for some time.

Due to thinning hair, my girlfriend began looking into potential solutions. After trawling through various websites and forums, she decided that a hair integration system might be the solution.

Living in the North, we went to both Lucinda Ellery and Hair Solved in Manchester to discuss the options and see the products in the flesh. After careful consideration, she opted for Hair Solved and I waited whilst the hair integration system has fitted. We came to the conclusion that the expense (initial and ongoing) was worth it if it helped her feel more confident about her hair.

Having requested a parting rather than a fringe, she was advised that this might make the hair clips visible. A parting was formed but after hours of fitting/cutting we left not 100% satisfied.

By the time we arrived home she still wasn't completely happy, mentioning that she had a headache due to system pulling on her hair/scalp. Having read through the forums and comments from others with similar systems, I said that it was just a case of getting used to the new system.

After sleepless nights due to the unnatural feeling and telephone conversations with Hair Solved, she decided that she would be happier without the hair integration system.

We went back to get the system removed.

We then went to a trichologist...

After a consultation, the trichologist pointed out some potential causes and solutions, recommending a blood test and the use of minoxidil twice daily.

The blood test revealed low levels of iron which can contribute to hair loss. The trichologist recommended taking iron tablets, combined with the use of minoxidil.

It is not an instant fix or one that will apply to everyone but the difference has been amazing. I understand that there are circumstances where a hair integration system might be the best solution but I would recommend that everyone sees a trichologist before considering a hair replacement system.

I have been on the forum a few times recently - mainly to read how anyone was getting on with their hair systems. I have suffered from gradual hair thinning for the past 5 years and here is my story

I have had blood tests - nothing found
I have visited a dermatologist who told me I have Female pattern, nothing really will help but try minoxidil (used 4% and 5%)
I have bought a laser comb
I have bought hair vitamins, viviscal, florisene
I have used concealer sprays and fibres
I have used various nanogen products
I have searched the internet for hours!!
I was so upset the last time I was at the hairdressers, I did not go back and that was over a year ago
I have also visited LE Manchester when she first opened and I contacted Hair Solved for advice
I bought (and sent back) a clip in hair piece that looked stupid

No-one can ever tell you what it feels like to suffer from hair loss. To say it has taken over my life, is an understatement. However, I finally took the plunge just over a week ago and had a system done at Hair Solved in Manchester.

The whole process is very overwhelming. I sat in the chair in a private area from 10:30 in the morning till 17:30! Long day! And I have to be honest, I came out thinking it looks like a wig, its really big and it hurts! However, I got home and the reaction from my family was very positive and I can now say that at my work, loads of people have complimented my hair and have said I look so different.

Yes I took paracetamol and 2 ibuprofen on the first night, but that is it. It does itch a bit, I have only had to wash my hair twice since its been done as opposed to everyday so I think my scalp needs to settle down a bit. When I washed it the first time, I thought I had knocked the shower head off because I could not feel the water coming through the hair because there is so much of it! Yes it does take a long time to dry but thats only because before I had it done, my car blower would dry my hair on the way to work! I have got a parting and a side sweeping fringe which you do need to be careful with and you have to style it so you don't see the mesh or the clips but I have bought a set of straighteners (never used them before because I was so frightened of making my hair brittle). I think it will take my a while to get used to it and it is a huge financial committment but I have tried everything and it was my last resort. I have got hair that I can tie back and wear down and it was this that I could not do - I had such thinning hair I could only have it scrapped back into a pony tail and nothing else. The system feels really thick but its not - it's just normal now!

The staff at Hair Solved are really nice and I was shocked how busy it was!

I had no other choice but to have a system because I had tried everything - I dont think I will have any regrets.

Thanks for posting your experience. I have had a very similar experience to yours except you've probably tried more products than myself.
I too was seriously thinking of attending Hair Solved for a system but after a bad experience at the LE clinic in Manchester am re-evaluating my position.
It would be really great if you could keep us posted with your continued experience. I've never communicated with other sufferers like this before and find it quite cathartic! It's also useful to receive an unbiased opinion about the system and practical details re maintenance issues and how you continue to feel about it.
I wish there was a local support group where we could meet up to discuss such issues as no-one else really understands the devastation hair loss wreaks re confidence and the hold it continues to have on every day life. However....don't want to end on a downer! I'm glad your story has a happy ending and I would be interested to know how you get on with it.

Hope you are alright and I'm glad you have found my experience useful.

My experience of LE was when she first opened in Manchester a few years ago. I went for a free consultation and although everyone seemed nice, the salon is also for people who do not suffer from hair problems. They sat me next to someone who certainly did not have hair loss and who was having normal long extensions put in. That certainly did not put me at ease! They recommended the Fullmore spray which seemed alright until I walked out the shop and realised I had spots of the "paint" on my face and they put in 2 temporary medi connect hair extensions in to see if my hair would be alright with them in (again slightly worrying). It was just not really for me as I would be constantly worrying about people seeing the spray.

I have had the system in my hair for exactly 1 month and I have been washing it twice a week. I just make sure I do it at night so I have time to dry and style it but its absolutely fine to do and takes no longer than 20 mintues. The hair does sometimes feel dry but this is because the hair does not actually get any "nutriment" - I have got some morroccan oil which hopefully will help. I love the fact I don't have to wash it every day!

I have never in my life had so many positive comments particularly from people who I work with. I have to say though sometimes I don't want people to notice anything about me but people have said I look different in my face, more confident. I do worry about the fringe bit because I have opted for a side fringe, I need to be careful with how I clip it to one side. I am not used to a fringe which is why I wanted a sweeping one but Hair Solved did say I would need to watch how I clip it.

I do still think why has this happened to me and I wonder if my own hair is growing underneath but I dont think this will happen realistically. You are right that no one will understand what it feels like to have hair loss and it is a feeling of devastation.

I am going next week to have my first maintenance done so I will let you know how I get on.

I use a company called landmark they are in Bristol and London I use the Bristol branch, it's really friendly and made me feel really welcome, and it's private, I hated going to salons so this is great.
