Yes I did go to a Trichologist = Sara Allison in Chiswick. She was great. My options in terms of managing day to day where quite limited though so my thinnning is quite severe and was very noticeable I went to Lucinda Ellery to get a beautiful disguise in the form of the Intralace System;) Did find my trichologist appointment helpful though.

Hi Tressy
I'm so sorry I never got back to you. I felt so down after having it done I'm only just coming around really if that makes sense.
I had the system done and it really didn't suit me, I looked awful, it just looked like a wig :( I was so, so upset as until I'd gone for it doing I hadn't really realised just how bad my hair had gotten either, so I felt that there was no solution and got so upset and depressed. I tried to bear in mind you told me it took some getting used to and not have it taken straight out, but still ended up going back 2 days later for it removing. I felt even the staff knew it looked awful.
To be fair, they told me there was so much they were able to do to make it look better, but the top part (you know the main bit) had been cut for the fringe so without more expense that couldn't be rectified. They also said it would settle down after a few days and after washing but I was so, so upset I just wanted it off. What made it worse was I had a day off work for it removing, so if I'd have had it all redone after having a sick day then gone into work the day after with the new hair everyone would have known why I'd been off etc etc.
The look wasn't natural on me at all, but I was also surprised that you could see the mesh and the connections just by lifting a bit of the hair at the front. I felt I'd have been scared stiff of anyone ever touching it, or being out in the wind and it blowing back. Is this a problem you have Tressy?? There was so much hair I even struggled to get to my face to wash it, and it was too heavy to tie up, it was a nightmare even though I only had it 2 days. I stayed in bed the whole 2 days.
I'm really not sure what I'm going to do, I'm very upset by it all and have since been to the doctors who have referred me to a Dermatologist. The doctor confirmed its not alopecia and think it is stress related as I have had a lot of stress over the last 2 years. The problem is though that I can't see me becoming any less stressed cos I stress more than ever now about my hair, I never stop thinking about it. My appointment at the Dermatologist is this week so I am going to see what they say.
Do you mind me asking Tressy how old you are? And what colour hair you went for?? I feel at a complete loss.
Thank you x

Hi I am new here. I wanted to post my experience. I am a hair puller and after a long spell of stress (family issues, redundancy, exams etc) I have big patches of very thin hair. I am desperate to stop pulling as I live in fear of it not growing back, a lot of it is growing back white, and I haven't been able to have my hair up in 15 years as a lot of the damage is at the back.

I was interested in getting the system as described here in order to stop my hands from getting to my hair to pull it.

I went to visit Verve in Soverby Bridge and spoke to a lovely lady there about getting the system. She said I could just have it done on the areas behind my ears where it is most affected at a cost of £400. She gave me the price and was happy for me to go away and think about it. I wanted a second opinion so I went to Hair Solved in Manchester. Lukas there said it was not possible for me to just have areas "patched" and i would have to go for a full head of hair system. On me I already know this would look ridiculous as the hair on the top of my hair is quite thick and I also have curly hair. Instinct just tells me it would be VERY hard to maintain. He was scepical of the previous ladies view that it could work out with just the system at the back. I was disappointed as this is obviously a cheaper solution and wouldn't be as noticable. The guy at Hair solved thought gravity would be against me and I'd have to have the beads tightened every 2 weeks.
So back to square one now really.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience Belpertron. There really isn't enough information and experiences on the net is there for people to make an informed decision.

Hi Giidy Aunt (great name)
It is very confusing as you have had two very different opinions so I wouldn't know what to do either. I don't know anything about Verve but have heard of hair solved. maybe trust your instincts - which one did you feel most comfortable with? Poor you - what a dilema. Maybe go somewhere else and get a third opinion??

best of luck

Oh Belperton - I'm so sorry you didn't get along with it! I don't know what to say. I felt like I had a lot of hair too the first time but I went back for my wash and they thinned it out for me and it was so much better. You know how chuffed I am with mine so I don't want to bang on about it but I really wish you had maybe left it a wee bit longer.

I do hope you get on ok at the dermatologist and your problems will all disappear. Please feel free to msg anytime if you need a chat.

Hi,

Im new to this forum and Im thinking of going for a hair interlace system-I get confused with all the different terms out there-I mean the system where they place a fine mesh over your scalp and attach other hair on...
I havent been for a consultation yet. Most of the places seem to be in London-Lucinda Ellery-knightly or in Manchester and Liverpool.. and if i have to go for touch ups every 6 weeks it will be a long journey-I live in the South West-Does anybody know of anywhere in Bristol? or Bath? Ive found a place in Bristol-WHITECLIFFS...Has anybody had any expereinces with them? I know they have other salons up and down the country...

Thank you

Hi I had mine done at LE and was pleased with it but did not like their charging method so after doing some research found Hairsolve based in Manchester now opened another salon in London. I went for a consultation as wanted to know if they would takeover as their pricing was very apealing. They were happy and I already had my adjustment done saving 50% of the cost at LE and they did better job of it too. :D The only downside is that the salon is not as fancy as LE but hey who cares

Hi. Maybe I'm not just a fun of surgeries neither how easy nor complicated it is. I just recommend some herbal and oral treatments for it will not put my life in danger.

Hi honeypot

What do you think of the hair quality at hair solved? I did think of going there as prices are quite cheap but I spoke to a lady in manchester who went there and she was a bit stressed about the quality of the hair they use so she asked Lucinda Elery if they would do her appointments every 6 weeks and they agreed. she had a lucinda ellery parting as she felt the hair solved one looked quite wiggy and now she is happy with the system but feels more confident about ellerys hair qualilty. have you had to change any of the hair from the system yet? I am all up for saving money but I don't want to compromize on the quality...

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share my expreience with the hair integration system, I will be competely honest, in the hope that it will help others in making the decision to have it done or not.
I have suffered from thinning hair since my late teens, (I'm 42 now)I went from having extremelly thick hair that I even had to get thinned out at the hairdressers!! (can't believe that now!) to having thin weak hair. It wasn't that noticably thin but I hated it, I had to wear it in the same boring style all of the time, I would spend hours trying to make it look something, only to find that by the time I had walked outside to the car it looked like a horrible frizzy thin mess!! I didn't bother visiting the hairdressers because there was nothing anyone could do with it. I spent money on nice clothes, make up, perfume etc, but never felt I looked good because of my hair, my conficence was at rock bottom! I tried different lotions and potions but nothing worked! I even bought a wig that cost a fortune, but I only wore it once because it was hot and looked very unatural.
I stumbled accross the hair integration system while trawling the internet for some kind of solution. I first started looking at Lucinda Ellery, but at that time she only had a salon in London, I am from Northumberland so that wasn't really practicle. I then found Hair Solved in Manchester, I eventually plucked up the courage to go for a free consultation (not the £50 charged by LE!). I drove off down to Manchester and the salon was very easy to find as it's on the outskirts of the city. I met with Lucas who advised me on the procedure and quoted me a price, I decided there and then that I would go for it and made an appointment for a fortnights time.
I spent the whole fortnight on the verge of cancelling, thoughts of "what if I spend all that money and hate it!" went through my mind, I was also worried that I would find it painfull, but at the end of the day I would never be happy until my hair problems were over.
I attended my appointment a fortnight ago, the salon and the staff were lovely and I was immediately made to feel at ease. I didn't find having the system fitted at all painfull apart from the odd pulled out hair, it took about 5 hours, but lunch was provided (yummy!) and the day soon flew over. When I saw the end result I could have cried (with happiness!!) I was totally transformed and had a beautifull full head of hair. I was warned that it may be painfull for a couple of days but fortunately I didn't find it painfull at all. It was amazing to brush it because it did actually feel like my own hair.
I went home and on the way I nervously called it to my local shop, I wondered it anyone would notice and ask what I had done to my hair, the coment I got was just what I needed, the woman who works there just said "you look nice tonight Claire" no mention of my hair. I then spent the whole evening glancing in the mirror in amazement! Since having it done only a couple of people have said "have you done something with your hair" to which I reply "I've had extensions put in" my Dad never even noticed!! I do feel it looks natural and that is so important to me.
For the first time in ages I can get up in the morning and not look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards and I only have to wash my hair once a week if I choose, not every morning like before. I just damp the ends down and turn them under with the hair dryer and it looks wonderfull!
I want to be completely honest and if there is a bad side then it is occassionaly itchy, but I think that's because my own hair is very greasy and it's not getting washed everyday. I panicked the first time I had to wash it as I didn't know how I would cope with drying so much hair, my arms ached at the end but it looked ok, my hair is quite long though, so I would imagine a shorter style would be much easier. I have since got my friend who's a hairdresser to blow dry it and it looks brilliant, so she has now agreed to do it once a week for me.
sorry if I have gone on a bit much, but I do hope this helps anyone who's looking for advise. I know it's probably not for everyone, but this has transformed my life and I wanted to share that. If anyone wants to ask me anything then please do.
Happy hair days!
Claire xxx
