Firstly, I can reassure you that it WON'T damage your hair. I've had mine in for such a long time that if it caused damage then it would really be obvious by now. If you have fine hair at your parting, then extensions wouldn't work for you - you'd be so self conscious about visibility. I once had individual extensions and spent the whole time trying to cover them. I simply didn't have the volume of hair to hide them and sounds like you might be the same.

As far as feeling the mesh goes ... if I stroke my hair or even run my fingers through it, I don't feel the mesh. The hair is sewn onto the mesh and Dawn uses plenty so there isn't really much mesh to feel. If you were to point your fingers down into the hair and have a good poke about then, yes, you would feel something. Its very easy to just pass that off as extensions should anyone really want to know! It just doesn't occur to anyone that you're wearing anything as sophisticated as a whole system as the majority of people don't even know it exists! Everyone has heard of extensions though.

I do have a fringe. The system is sewn on at the natural hairline on my forehead so I couldn't wear my fringe brushed back smooth and secured as it you would see 'something' there. I do sometimes push my fringe back, secure it with an alice band and kind of push the alice band forward so my hair isn't totally flat and then, for me, that disguises it.

As far as pony tails etc go, I wear mine up as I still have plenty of hair from my neck upwards so I can cover it. The sides can be brushed back - its all about positioning and placing the hair.

I guess you have to decide if you're ok as you are or you want to take this step. Its expensive if you're not sure. I just knew I was thoroughly sick of my problems and had tried everything else! Like I said before, I wouldn't be without it now.

Thing is, its never gonna be as good as a full head of natural, healthy hair cos that comes for free! However, my hair is now better and more low maintenance than the hair of friends who I envied before and I love that!

Hi Tressy

Thank you so much for your reply, I am feeling more confident about it now as the main thing I was worrying about was people being able to feel it!!!!!

I'm going on Saturday and I only had my consultation last Saturday (they've had a cancellation) so I've only had a few days to get used to the idea you see.

My husband and mum are very keen for me to have it done as they can see I am becoming obsessive with people's partings!! And envying hair when I'm out shopping etc etc!!

I think it sounds like i need to take the plunge, if the worst comes to the worst I can always have it taken off if it isn't going to damage my own hair.

I called the salon yesterday to ask if it is uncomfortable and they said it is tight for a day. Do you find it uncomfortable? Does it hurt having it done? I've always been sensitive to hair pulling so I'm guessing it will! How long is your hair? I'm planning on having it full length as I can always have some cut off after if it is too much to manage.

Thank you for replying, I really appreciate it! :)

Sooo excited for you now!!

If you're sensitive to hair pulling, then take a couple of paracetemol beforehand. Its only attaching the mesh thats uncomfortable and it doesn't bother me at all but - as for a bikini wax!! - take a couple of painkillers before!

I always find I'm a bit headsore the first night and its uncomfortable to sleep. Once I've got that first night out of the way though, its fine and even better after the first wash. When it goes on, its all new and tight so you'll be very aware of it. It'll settle down after a day or so though and you won't be uncomfortable.

What I would say is .. its a huge change for you so give yourself time to get used to it. Don't rush back after a week and have it taken off. You're spending a lot of money and that would be a real shame. You need to get used to having it around and then it'll be your best friend! :-)

My hair is down to approx my boobs. I figured if I had it long to start with, then I could always cut it shorter but not the other way round. I've left it long though cos I love it.

Would love to hear how you get on. :-)

Yes of course I'll let you know. Thank you so much for all the info, I feel much better now as I was almost at the point of panic cancelling!

Thank you again! :)

This thred seems to be the most popular on Hair Loss Forum to date, I would like to know why people are turning to hair replacement therapy and not medication.

Has anyone tried medication for hair loss such as Regaine, Spironolactone & Dianette ????? and if not why ?

Hi Admin

I was on Dianette for 2 years with no results. I also tried Nourkrin for 18 months and really didn't see any improvement at all. I felt that time was passing and I'd had enough of waiting for a decent head of hair to arrive. I wanted to look and feel good before I got too old!

I think this thread is popular because hair integration systems deliver an immediate fix - expensive but its an instant solution and perhaps people who can afford to go down this route, just think why not?!

Have you been to see a qualified trichologist from the Institute, and if so what was there diagnosis??

No I haven't. I never got further than my GP. I don't suffer from alopecia or trich. I have genetic thinning all over. My GP was helpful but I was aware that compared to a lot of people my hair problem is trivial so I didn't really expect it to go any further in terms of investigation

Do you disapprove of the integration systems ?

No not at all, I was just posing questions to see what feedback would come about.
