Hi guys,

Thanks for all this info; God bless the internet!! ;)

Can anyone tell me if there is a hair integration salon in Newcastle or somewhere in the North East? The closest place I could find was Hairdoll or Hairtechniques, both in Wakefiels. However, for someone who does not have a car, this is a long way to travel!

Any help would be appreciated :D

Hi

Did anyone see the program on Channel 4 about Trichortillomania - hair pulling? It was about three girls who can't stop pulling thier own hair out. It had a strange title - "Girls on the Pull" so not sure if people would have known it was about a serious problem and not about girls going out for a night! I thought the women on there were really brave and they all looked great as they had their hair done in various places - two had it done at Lucinda Ellery. Lucinda was also on the program. If anyone has this hair loss problem you should google "Girls on the Pull" - it is bound to be helpful.

Hi Guys I want to tell you my experience of hair integration so you wont make the same mistake! This is a long story but worth the read! believe me!
Im 27 female with genetic thinning especially around the hair line. I have been visiting a hair specialist clinic in Bham for past 7 years and been using estradex 2% and laser treatment approx once a month. I found this slowed my hair loss but 2 years ago I became very self conscious esp about my parting. I was advised about nanogen fibres and have used them since. They can be messy and always end up in your nails but they gave m confidence and did the job- i was content and got used to them.
Then in May of this year I was feeling down about my hair. its long but not that thick and I was fed up of nanogen so i came on this website and read about hair integregation. I researched Mark Glen/Lucinda ellery but London is so far for me- im based in midlands. I then asked the hair specialist clinic Ive been going to in Brum and they said they do it- I was so relieved!!! I had a template of my head taken with cling film (bit weird i thought!)and told it would cost £2000 in total it had a 18 month warranty apparently. I had to pay £1000 deposit on the day and it would take 2 months to order. It was real human hair and apparently because my hair is so long thats why it was so expensive. I was a bit doubtful but I was so excited about having the "cheryl Cole" look of full thick hair I paid my deposit and was counting down the days until it was fitted.

Ok Last Saturday I had it fitted- Disaster from the start!!! I was at the clinic on time and taken to a private cubicle. I was asked by the junior "do you know what your in for?" which didnt give me any confidence. I was then left waiting for 30 mins... why? The "stylist" came late as I could see her pull up in the car park 30 mins later!!! She came in... didnt ask my name and trimmed my hair first. She asked when I last washed my hair.. i said yesterday... she said thats fine we can fit the "unit" straight away. I was worried--- this thing would be on my head for 1 month and I was paying £2000!!! I wanted my hair washed!!!! The junior was told to wash and straighen my hair which she did with cold water as apparently there was no warm!!! Then the stylist came in with the hair unit--- wrong colour!!! My hair is black- this was dark brown!!!! She tried to persuade me the hair would blend but im not blind!!! She eventually asked if I would be happier if she dyed the hair unit... I agreed but I was worried as the hair would fade in time!!!! She said she would dye it every time I came in... I didnt know what to say so let her carry on. I was left alone again for 30 mins..... I think the stylist was on a fag break as she came back smelling of smoke! She then started to fit the unit.... The beads used to attach it were so tight.. i could feel my existing hair being pulled really tightly and my scalp was being stretched. She then started to pull my hair through the mesh... from my research this is the longest part taking hours. My stylist took 20 mins maximum... she said it doesnt all have to come through as long as the mesh is covered and even joked I could pull some through myself at home while watching tv if i wanted!! I was in disbelief... what was she getting paid for!!! She then cut the unit around my hair.. I told her it looked way too thick so she then cut pieces of it off from the scalp - i was petrifired my own hair was coming out with it!!! SHe straightened the hair and said we were finished.
OMG! The whole reason i wanted the unit was to cover my thinning hair at the front- that was still visible!!! It hadnt covered it at all- all she had done was comb over the fake hair to cover my thinning area which is what i had been doing before! The hair was thicker but it felt SO heavy-really tight- and If i ran my hands through my hair I could feel the mesh and the beads. I mentioned these problems and I was told "You'll get used to it" and that "everyone has a thinning hair line!" I couldnt believe it! I was taken downstairs to pay and the receptionist was gushing saying how amazing my hair looked-- even though i could still see my scalp through it!! I was prompted to pay and to add insult to injury told it would be another £40 for the fitting today- I said i wasnt told about this but she said thats how much it always is. I just paid and left- i just wanted to get out of there. I total I spent 3 hours in the clinic- one hour was me sitting around waiting for someone!

I got home and thought ive paid for this now i have to stick with it.. at first i was being optimistic - no one noticed any difference with my hair not my mum/sister/even at work!! But to sleep in it!!! OMG- sat night i didnt sleep- i had severe headache and could feel the tension on my already weak existing hair... when i lay down i could feel the beads digging in and couldnt get comfortable. On Sunday i washed my hair- it was so heavy and with the water i could feel it pulling my own hair down. The hair dye all came off when i washed it. I always natural dry my hair and it took all day to dry...sunday another sleepness night. Monday morning i called the clinic and said i wanted to come back... they booked me 2 days later. Over this time the tension on my hair was easing but i could see my hair at the front being pulled and a bald patch forming!!
This afternoon i went to the clinic saw a different stylist as the first one who couldnt even be bothered to ask my name wasnt in. I explained all my problems and was told it takes time to get used to... i asked why my thin area was still visible at the front. i was told next time the unit could be moved forward. I said i wanted it off my head.. i couldnt cope so she removed it. OMG how good did it feel to have it off!!! AMAZING!!! My existing hair feels thinner now but im so glad to have that thing off head! I was told ive paid for it now so if i ever want it back on as "holiday Hair" or a "special occasion" that can be done and it will be kept at the clinic.I went home and gave my hair such a good shampoo felt amazing!!! Im writing this now with literally a weight lifted off my head.
I feel disappointed as I expected this amazing transformation but it didnt happen. I think im going to try to accept my hair as it is for the moment with the nanogen and if it gets worse then maybe try the unit again but Im not sure. I read all the posts on here before I had my hair integregation and wanted to let you know my experience. sorry its so long!
£2040 wasted!!! I cant believe it!!! I want all my money back but dont know how to go about it-any ideas guys???If any one wants any advice about the hair integregation feel free to post and i will definitely reply... i wish i had recieved some advice before i had it done!

What an awful, awful experience you've had! How could they be so unprofessional and insensitive?!! Surely, there is some protection for you under the law for not getting what you paid for? And to lose all that money. Its a disgrace. You should name and shame them!

Its such a shame that its put you off because, I promise you, there are many of us wearing these systems who have had our lives changed in a really positive way.

I'm so sorry you had to go through all that. :-(

The company i went to is near Birmingham City Centre. I have asked for a refund but not heard from them yet. I think I wont see that money again which is horrendous!! £2000 wasted!!!! If anyone needs any advice regarding the hair integration please feel free to ask. At the moment im sticking to nanogen fibres... i know its messy but my hair feels healthier. I cant imagine the damage that would have occured to my head if i had left the system on!!!

Was it White Cliffs? Not heard a good word about them and they've let soo many people down.

:(

I've had my integration system for more than 2 years now and wouldn't give it up without a fight. Anyone who needs info please ask. Its a huge financial and emotional commitment to undertake without being fully equipped with the facts.

Hi Tressy

I went to Hair Transform in Liverpool yesterday for a consultation, and Dawn said the volumising system at a cost of £1495 was perfect for my hair. I was disappointed because I was hoping just to have normal extensions, but because my hair is thin at the parting and this is what I am particularly self conscious about she said extensions wouldn't be what I needed.

I have actually booked in for the full volumising system, but now my initial excitement has died down I'm really nervous. Especially as my hair isn't too bad, I'm just self conscious about it thinning on top and would like thicker hair.

I hope you don't mind but I would love it if you could answer a few questions that are worrying me??

Most of all, I'm scared that people will be able to feel the mesh if they felt my scalp. I've read all these posts on here and no one has mentioned whether a person would be able to feel it. I have visions of a fairly stiff mesh that someone would feel if they touched my head. Dawn said people don't really touch the top of your head but I don't want to be afraid of someone doing that and that becoming the new thing I'm self conscious about if you get what I mean?!

Does it get on your nerves? Like feeling uncomfortable to you etc?

Do you have a fringe? What is your hairline like if you lift your fringe? I don't want it to look unnatural.

Do you style your hair exactly as you would have before? As I wear my hair up a lot in ponytails and buns and would like to be able to plait it etc etc. I like girly hairstyles.

Do you ever worry that it is damaging to your own hair?? I wouldn't want to have it done if it will damage my hair, however Dawn assures me it won't.

Sorry for all the questions, I would really appreciate it if you or someone else could help.

Many Thanks :)
