Hi all,

can't believe I've found this site! Why did it take me so long?
I've had badly thinning hair since I was a teenager, I'm 43 now, and I haven't worn my hair down since I was told at 18 that I have a bald spot :-(

I've only just discovered the whole mesh hair thing is possible, went for a consultation at Lucinda Ellerys salon yesterday, was amazing. The staff were great (of course they would be) and they showed me a natural hairline (they popped it against my head to show me), and it looked utterly incredible. The work is so finely done I couldn't tell where this wonderful hair started and my forehead ended, it was seamless....However, I didn't realise there was so much conflicting publicity on this company, I'm really saddened. Was prepared to sell off my first born in order to get in the door! The cost is soo huge also, I'm on a low income (shouldn't even be considering this option really)...and I'm worried that I'd love it so much I'd never want to stop having it done, ...it's a very tricky situation..ooh wait! i didn't know that another place does it in Barnet? Might have to try them too.

Glad to find all you lovely ladies here though, it's good to know I'm soo not alone...;-) xx

Hi

I love my hair too and have that style parting( so real looking - can't tell its not my own hair;) but yes the cost needs to be considered. I have made changes in terms of lifestyle to keep some cash for my appointments but now that I have it I couldn't be without it so I am trying for the NHS funding to see if I can get some financial help. My mum gave me some money to help pay for my intralace as she knew I was miserable but when that runs out I need to have a plan because I couldn't bear to go back to life before I had this system. I find them all very nice at Lucinda Ellery and so fingers crossed about my NHS funding.
Good luck with what ever you decide to do.. :D

Hi Annie,

well I've just got back from my second appointment, this time at Hair-Solved in Barnet. I loved the Lucinda Ellery Salon but because I have to be really careful with my budget I do need to shop around to find the best place for my own personal requirements.

Hair Solved showed me how the mesh works and it looks great. However I have two problems, my hair is curly and they only supply straight hair, also they don't have an invisible hairline option. So I would have to decide if I'm happy to either continually straighten my own hair underneath the wig hair, or curl everything to match my own hair...not sure which way works for me. I've always loved my curly hair :-(. anyone know of anywhere that does hair integration but for curly haired gals? I'd love to keep it simple rather than having to add curling and straightening learning curves to all this...

Hi

Not sure what your curly options are but maybe ask them at lucinda ellery and see if they can get curly hair. mine is straightish to didn't have this dilemma. Good you got on well at hair solve and its always good to have options but the parting is the most important part to me as I don't suit a fringe (Maybe you do) so I would scream and shout if I couldnt have my style of parting :)
good luck with whatever you decide to do. hope you get what you are looking for.

hi there,
I went back to the Lucinda Ellery Salon and asked for some clarification about curly hair. Chris (Lucinda's son) explained that they do actually just use straight hair, but you can scrunch dry it wavy, and he had kindly scrunched a couple of samples for me, which was great. I tried on the natural hairline again, I'm totally in love with his work, it's incredible, however, so expensive for me. So tomorrow I have my final appointment at my last choice in this quest, Bloomsbury of London (I think they are also called the Hair Clinic, not sure). I'll let you know how I get on ;-)

hi there!

So I went for a second appointment at the Lucinda Ellery Salon last week, so show my mum and my sister their hair options, both of them got a bit tearful when they saw me with a natural hairline! ;-) Chris (Lucinda's son) answered all of my questions with confidence and tact, he really knows his stuff. He also showed me their scrunched dried hair which looks curly enough to match my own hair which is wonderful.

Then today I went for a consultation at the last salon on my list, Bloomsbury in London (or the London Hair Clinic), and Graham was very knowledgeable, but this place doesn't work for me for various reasons. To summarise though, they specialise in wigs more than hair integration systems, which isnt really going to work for me, because I want to keep my hair ON all the time, not take it off at night, know what I mean? Also he doesn't advise curly hair without adding how problematic it can be.

So I've decided, that because Hair Solved was great but can't do wavy hair or natural hairlines, and Bloomsburys is more about hairpieces (wigs) Lucinda Ellery is probably the one for me ;-) I have to now apply for NHS funding which will probably take up to 6 months, so I have my appointment with my gp next week, and can start the long process then...wish me luck!

Clancygirl,

I just wanted to ask how it was going with the NHS funding thing, I'm also applying as I can't possibly hope to sustain an integration system indefinitely without some sort of help financially. I have my appointment with my gp next week and I have the Lucinda Ellery NSH pack to take with me to give to her. I'm told they will reject me first time round regardless, and then it's up to me to appeal...how far have you got now? If you don't mind sharing? xx

Hi Indigoblue

pleased to hear all went well with consultations. my application for funding is still pending (in other words I have not heard anything yet) but will let you know when I do. :D totally appreciate the fact you want to have something to wear all the time and not have to remove it - cringe at the thought of that. lucinda ellery can't help me with the funding until i at least get a response so waiting for my doc to update me.
will keep you posted

Thanks honey that would be great ;-)

Have also now sent my NHS pack off to the PCT and will see what happens. I think they hold a meeting once a month so will have to wait for a while methinks.

This is my first time on the site and I am seriously considering the hair integration system I live in Glasgow so I know there is a company Hair Solved who does this. I have lived with very little hair for years(since I was 16 and I am now 44!!!!) I have tried regaine for women, multi vitamins , seen doctors and now use dermatch to cover the bald patches. There seems to be a lot of good press and bad press about hair integration. Has anyone had it done recently at HairSolved or a few years ago and is still happy with the results, aftercare service etc.
