Propecia works by decreasing the enzyme activity that results in the formation of a chemical called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which is primarily responsible for male and female pattern baldness. By blocking the conversion of hormones into DHT it helps to maintain the existing hair as well as in assisting re-growth of thinning hair follicles. In male pattern baldness, during each cycle of hair growth, the hair becomes thinner and finer till it stops growing altogether. Propecia helps by making these thin strands thicker.

I have to agree, I have been taking Propecia for 3 months and already I have started to see the difference. I was a bit sceptical but started using it with other treatments like minoxidil. I thought what the heck - what have I got to lose. You can only give it a try but it has definately made me a lot more happy in myself.

Propecia has significant clinical data to prove that it works. Basically it all depends on your diagnoses and the real cause of your hair loss. Remember Propecia is only recommended for use in men. Women can not have Propecia. Futher Propecia information can be obtained from the official Propecia web site

I know that propecia's the main drug that stops hair loss, I've just starting taking it and I'm worried about the side effects to be honest

.
Up til this point I've just been covering it up with DermMatch, but it's getting to the point that I really need a cure, or a hat!
Can anyone recommend anything to prevent propecia side effects?

What side effects are you worried about? the only one i can imagine is some people suffer from erectile dysfunction whilst taking the medication. And therefore people usually get a course of Viagra or Cialis to combat this.

Propecia is the best medicine for hair loss. It certainly has some side effects and these side effects disappears as our body accustoms to the medication. I'm using Propecia for year and half. I too had side effects in the beginning and as my body got used to it slowly, most of the side effects disappeared. After year and a half, today 80% of my receding hairline disappeared with negligible side effects.
