photos of my receding hairline
I live in Uk. I have a receding hairline which, if I get my hair cut short, family/friends comment on. The receding hairline isn't too bad yet, so I want to stop any further hairloss.
Me at the moment are in these photos.

Now I realise that there are people on the board who have far worse hairloss and should say that I should count myself lucky. I appreciate that but I want to stop it receding anymore. I struggle enough with my looks - the photos don't show my pockmarked acne scars all over my face.
I see my options at the moment as follows. I could pay a lot to go see a dermatologist privately. But why do I get the impression that I will be paying £200 for a two minute conversation where she goes.
"Treatments are 1) finasteride 2) minoxidil"
I have read in a Philip Kingsley book that minoxidil doesn't work. And quite frankly I don't think my hairloss is bad enough to suffer the side effects of finasteride. In my Philip Kingsley book though, I did read about how in their clinic they have had a lot of success with their topicals to block DHT. So i am tempted to make an appointment there - it is £200 though. This is the clinic and they are trichologists.

So any advice for this newbie appreciated. Should I just keep using my nizoral shampoo and say try some spiro 5% cream?
