Both the crown and the hairline are separate parts of the scalp that are susceptible to balding, albeit they do so in different ways. The crown is the upper, center region of the head, whereas the hairline is the front border of the forehead's hair growth. Whereas crown balding entails thinning or hair loss in the circular region at the top of the head, hair loss at the hairline usually shows up as a receding or maturing hairline.
