My own thoughts and Rooney transplant.

Hi, I am new here. Basically started losing hair age 16 (yes it sucks) it has ruined my life to a big extent. I am now 26. I did try to do something about it early on, spending £300 on tablets which did not work, ever since then I am convinced nothing works in terms of tablets and lotions as there is little to no proof, its just a con, waste of money, and time. I have just tried to live with it but I have no confidence, I try to avoid going out too much to pubs/clubs as thats when you get mates, people you meet, even strangers commenting. I don't know about everyone else in here but every time I go out on a night out I am pretty much guaranteed to get one insult towards my hair which just puts me in a bad mood. Its not just embarrassing its annoying too, you can't stay in the sun for too long otherwise you get burnt like a lobster, I personally cannot even look at myself in a mirror anymore as it just depresses me. I always think day by day if only this did not happen I would be having such a good time....I got a fair bit of attention at school/college from girls and not being stuck up but I knew I was at least fairly good looking as I would get compliments etc. I had girlfriends up to when I was 23 (when my hair still looked ok-ish although I was receeding) but since then it has obviously worsened and my confidence dropped and thats when I stopped going out so much and I do not try to get a girlfriend because of this. Other people I see about that are young and balding, people that I know still have girlfriends and nice enough girlfriends too, maybe these guys have more confidence or just lucky enough to meet someone who does not care about their hair. I am concerned that I may not find someone, I am certain if this didnt happen to me that I would have probably settled down by now, there is one girl in particular I really liked at work a few years ago but because of my hair I could not ask her out, if things were different I feel like I would be with her, she was perfect for me. I worry that now I will have to drop my standards from when I had a good head of hair and now go for girls I don't find physically attractive. Anyway I really need to get myself out there meeting new people, I can't even get myself on facebook as I don't like seeing my photo so I have no communication with anyone. I do not want old girlfriends and others seeing me on facebook and thinking what happend to him. I can't see myself getting out of this state of mind which is not really going to help me.

The only thing that can help is a hair transplant but they scare the crap out of me in some ways. No-way am I keen on the one where they cut a huge chunk out the back of your head. I would be quite happy to have the one Wayne Rooney just had as long as it was guaranteed to work or at least had a very high chance of working. I keep reading forum posts saying 'why the hell did he go there, it has a bad reputation'. What I say to that is: This clinic are surely not dumb enough to do this transplant on a worldwide famous footballer if its not going to work. If it does not work then that is going to be a seriously huge blow to this clinic and no-one will go there to get anything done. There has to be a huge chance of it working. If it works and works well I may have it done myself. Its just a shame that I have saved thousands of pounds for a deposit on a house but now I may spend it on a transplant. If I was to spend that much money on one then it would have to be pretty much guaranteed to work. Anyone know how much it cost Rooney as some papers are saying £10,000 others £30,000?

I heard that Rooney paid £30k for his treatment. But I am sure you could find somewhere that costs less, I am sure because it was Rooney and they knew he could afford it they would bump up the price a little!

Please don't give up on girls, don't let comments of others get you down. It sounds as if you have lost your confidence and this comes accross to women don't let other people get you down and you will find someone who like you for who you are and not your hair (or lack of).

I totally agree with you that the only treatment that can help you to get rid of hair loss at any age is thehair transplant surgery... no matter where you can done your surgery ..but should be specialist.
