Longer hair during transplant process?

Hi all,

1st up, just want to say a huge thank you to the contributors to this site. Although only recently registered, I've frequented this site a lot over the years and found the information and spirit on here invaluable in my quest to make an informed decision on my next steps re. hairloss - keep up the great work.

I've decided to take the plunge on a transplant, and wondered what the opinion is out there about having surgery carried out with longer hair in the non-donor and recipient areas?

I have a hair type and naturally occurring style that currently covers the majority of the recipient area. If possible, I'd love to have the operation 'under the radar'. That's said, I wouldn't want to do it if it was to the detriment of results or any other negative outcome.

I'd appreciate opinions from anyone that had considered this approach but decided against, or did try and to see how it played out.

Thanks

Hi DAC

From the best of my knowledge, having a hair transplant does involve a grade one shave in the main areas of the boldness to allow the professional to complete the process much easily as believe it or not, they can actually see your recipient areas much easier this way.

I visited Harley Street Clinic somewhat 5 years ago now and this is what I was inform at the initial consultation as this was also something I wanted to do to enable me to keep as much hair as possible whilst the transplanted hair grew.

Thanks.

I would also say that if you going to perform the hair loss treatment and when if it is the hair transplant treatment then it take long to show you the results.. so don't it will take up to 6 to 8 months to show the results.
